James Bond Cars: The Living Daylights

Movie 15: The Living Daylights (1987)

The Living Daylights is Timothy Dalton’s first time (of two) as James Bond. In this movie, Bond aids the defection of a KGB officer. He helps General Georgi Koskov by wounding a female KGB sniper (a cellist). Koskov is abducted from the safehouse and Bond is ordered to kill General Leonid Pushkin, head of KGB. As head of the KGB, Pushkin sought to revive the old policy translated to “death to spies”.

Bond finds that Kosov’s defection was faked and uncovers his scheme to embezzle KGB funds to purchase diamonds and then in turn purchase drugs. Bond destroys the drugs and kills Koskov’s partner.

Bond drives an Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante. This convertible is “winterized” with a hardtop. It is customized with extending side outriggers, spike-producing tires, missiles, lasers, a smart radio, and rocket propulsion. It can also self-destruct.
